Since 1975, I have built and crafted custom furniture to the specifications of my customers, with exemplary design and use of hardwoods to meet their needs. I began in a small two-car garage in Austin, Texas.

In 1984, our family moved to the Dallas area so I could work for Marvin Judy, owner of Schudi Organ Company. I have worked for Marvin and for Robert Sipe in building pipe organs for churches and universities all over the United States. And I have loved it. This work included construction and loading of the organ to fill a 53-foot trailer through reassembling it in a church or auditorium.

I also worked a year for Gulfstream Aerospace in a shop that made furniture for private jets, and for two years in a shop building displays for museums. Though I will do occasional repair and upgrades of pipe organs, I’m starting a new chapter of my work. And I hope you are part of that!

I learned everything I know about bookbinding tools from Catherine Burkhard. Catherine is a bookbinder and calligrapher with a private practice based in her Books ‘n Letters Studio in Dallas, Texas. I began building these tools under Catherine’s direction for her use and for her students.

In addition to teaching classes and workshops, Catherine creates custom bindings and performs restoration and conservation work.
